Georgian Townhouse
One of Bath’s most historic buildings restored to it’s residential splendour after years as a commercial premises.
In a collaborative project with Kelmscott studio the team transformed the former office space into a wonderful understated home.
Respecting the listed status of the building, the designs for each space were sympathetically created to restore many of the beautiful original features whilst ensuring that each room functioned for modern living. Celebrating the proportions of the building and simplicity of detailing in bespoke joinery detailing was at the heart of the project for the Curator’s House.
The key to the success of the project, the layering of natural hues and earth tone with the richness created by pockets of interest, achieved with stylised furniture pieces and object d’art collected over the years. The result, an overwhelmingly inviting aesthetic that feels mature, considered and both contemporary, yet with deliberate historic reference.
